
RULES FOR EXHIBITORS
Exhibits
Every horticultural exhibit unless otherwise stated shall have been cultivated by the exhibitor in his/her own garden or allotment, or if a pot plant, have been in the exhibitor’s possession for at least three months. Each exhibit shall be in accordance with the Rules otherwise it will be disqualified. The Committee reserve to themselves the right of calling upon an exhibitor to give proof that the exhibit complies with this rule.
Entries
No exhibitor to enter more than one entry in each class. Exhibitors sharing a garden may not compete in the same horticultural class. Exhibitors may enter one exhibit per class under joint ownership, Mr and Mrs or The Misses, etc. There is no charge for members to enter classes, non-Members 50p for each entry. All classes are OPEN.
Exhibitors must insert the necessary details of their proposed exhibits on the entry form. Such forms must be lodged, accompanied by the entrance fee (if applicable), with the Secretary of the Show, no later than two days before the date of the Show. Late entries at the discretion of the Show Secretary.
Place Cards
Each exhibit shall bear the exhibitor’s name, section and class on a card supplied by the Committee for that purpose.
Naming of Exhibits
Wherever possible, an exhibit of vegetables, fruits, flowers, jams etc. should bear a label with the name of the kind, cultivar or cultivars. Correctness of labelling may tell in favour of an exhibit in close competition.
Vases
Society Vases must be used except where the Class calls for other containers.
Novice Classes
Exhibitors entering Novice Classes must not have won more than 5 first prizes in that respective Novice Section/Class in the Society’s Shows.
Judging
Judging shall be in accordance with the Royal Horticultural Society’s Rules and those of the other Societies to which the Society is affiliated* N.A.F.A.S. Schedule Definitions - Current Edition - for Flower Arranging Classes.
* The Royal Horticultural Society, National Dahlia Society, The National Chrysanthemum Society, The Daffodil Society, The National Sweet Pea Society and The National Vegetable Society.
Judges’ Decision is Final
The decision of the judges shall be final and no protest will be entertained against the award except on the grounds that these rules have been violated. Any dispute must be made in writing.
Staging
Staging for all shows will be 8.00 pm - 9.30 p.m. Friday and 8.00 am –
10.45 am on Saturday. At 11.00 am. Saturday the Hall will be cleared of all persons except officers.
Flower Arranging
No plastic plant material may be used in the Flower Arranging Classes unless otherwise stated in this Schedule. All material used in floral art classes may be purchased. Unless otherwise stated all floral arrangements are to be staged within a 2ft wide allocated space.
Uncollected Exhibits
The disposal of uncollected exhibits is at the discretion of the Show Secretary, if they are not collected by 5.00 pm.
Liability
The Committee will not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, any exhibit or personal property during the show, but all ordinary care will be taken.
